Product Overview
The Allen-Bradley 1794-IB8 is a digital input module from the Flex I/O 1794 series. It features 8 current sinking inputs. This module accepts DC voltages from 10 to 31.2V DC. Its nominal on-state voltage is 24V DC. The 1794-IB8 provides reliable signal detection for industrial processes. It supports hot-swapping under power. This saves time and avoids system restarts. The module communicates via ControlNet, DeviceNet, EtherNet/IP, and Universal Remote I/O. It works with terminal base units like the 1794-TB3 and 1794-TB3S. Install it on a DIN rail for easy setup. The front panel has 16 yellow LEDs for status indication. Each channel has its own indicator. This module is known for its flexibility and cost-effectiveness. It is a popular choice for distributed I/O systems.

Application Scenarios
The 1794-IB8 is used in many automation environments. It handles discrete input signals from sensors and switches. Typical applications include conveyor systems, packaging machines, and material handling. It works well in factory floor control panels. The module is suitable for both new installations and retrofits. It integrates with Rockwell Automation control platforms. Use it with CompactLogix, ControlLogix, or SLC 500 controllers. The 1794-IB8 also fits into remote I/O racks. Its rugged design handles industrial temperatures from 0 to 55°C. It operates in 5 to 95% noncondensing humidity. This makes it ideal for harsh manufacturing areas.

Installation & Maintenance Guide
Install the 1794-IB8 on a compatible terminal base. Use the 1794-TB3 or 1794-TB3S. Mount the base on a DIN rail. Hook the base over the top of the rail. Push it down until it locks. Insert the module into the base. You can insert or remove it under power. No direct wiring is needed. This allows hot-swapping without downtime. For daisy-chaining, use the supply terminals on the base. Ensure correct polarity for +V and common. Use wire sizes from 0.34 to 3.3 mm². Tighten screw terminals to 0.56-0.79 Nm. Regularly check LED indicators. Each yellow LED shows the status of one input channel. Clean the module with a dry cloth. Avoid using solvents. The module requires no routine maintenance. Replace it only if faulty.
