Product Overview
The Allen-Bradley 1785-L20C15 is a ControlNet PLC-5 processor. It offers 16 Kilowords of user memory. The processor supports up to 512 forcible I/O points. It also handles 32000 nonforcible analog I/O. The integrated ControlNet phase 1.5 interface ensures fast communication. Average scan time is 0.5 ms per rack. This controller suits medium-scale automation tasks.

Application Scenarios
The 1785-L20C15 works well in manufacturing lines and process control. It connects to remote I/O and drives. Use it for high-speed data exchange. It manages up to 77 I/O chassis. It supports 12 universal remote I/O chassis. Typical applications include packaging, material handling, and assembly automation.
Technical Specifications
The processor uses a lithium battery for backup. Backplane current is 2.7 A at 5 V DC. Heat dissipation is 54 BTU per hour. It has one RS-232-C port and one DH+ port. Channel 1B can be DH+ or remote I/O. ControlNet uses BNC coax connectors. The key-switch offers RUN, PROG, and REM modes. LED indicators show status. Max total I/O is 512 forcible (any mix). Max analog I/O is 512 forcible. Nonforcible analog reaches 32000. I/O scan time is 0.5 ms on ControlNet. Total I/O chassis max is 77. Remote I/O chassis max is 12. No extended local I/O support. Memory is 16 KW user RAM with battery backup. You can use an EEPROM module for program backup.

Installation & Maintenance Guide
Install the processor in a suitable chassis. Ensure backplane current supply is adequate. Connect ControlNet cables to the BNC connectors. Configure channel 1B as needed. Use the key-switch to select RUN, PROG, or REM mode. Replace the lithium battery when the BATT LED turns red. Do not mix ControlNet phases on the same network. Check indicator LEDs for faults. For remote monitoring, use the DH+ or RS-232 port.
