Product Overview
The 1771-IFF is a PLC-5 analog input module from Allen-Bradley. It uses block transfer programming. This module connects analog devices to PLC processors. It supports 8 differential or 16 single-ended inputs. The module does not need an external power supply. It draws 750 mA from the backplane. The module has a conformal coating for protection.
Data format can be natural binary or BCD. Scaling goes to plus or minus 9999. Channel update time is 5 ms for 8 channels. It is 10 ms for 16 channels. Resolution is 12 bits plus sign. Voltage ranges include 0-5 V DC, 1-5 V DC, plus or minus 5 V DC, and plus or minus 10 V DC. Current ranges include 4-20 mA, 0-20 mA, and plus or minus 20 mA.

The 1771-IFF has input filtering to reduce electrical noise. It also provides optoelectrical isolation. This protects system circuits from transients. The front panel has a green RUN and a red FAULT LED. The module fits in one slot of an I/O chassis.
Application Scenarios
Engineers use this module for industrial sensing tasks. Common applications include temperature sensing. It also works for pressure sensing. Level sensing and flow metering are also possible. The module works with various analog transmitters. It is ideal for process control systems. The module handles both voltage and current signals.

Installation & Maintenance Guide
Install the module in any I/O chassis slot. Use keying bands between pins 10 and 12 on the lower connector. Use keying bands between pins 24 and 26 on the upper connector. This ensures correct installation. The module includes a 1771-WG wiring arm. You can replace the module without disconnecting wiring. Always power down the chassis before inserting or removing the module. Check the RUN and FAULT LEDs after power-up. A steady green RUN indicates normal operation. A red FAULT requires troubleshooting. Keep the module free from dust and moisture. Use the input filtering to reduce noise in harsh environments.
