Product Overview
The Allen-Bradley 1762-L40AWA is a MicroLogix 1200 series programmable logic controller from Rockwell Automation. Designed for small to medium-scale automation, this controller provides 24 digital inputs (120V AC) and 16 relay outputs, totaling 40 I/O channels. It operates on 120/240V AC power supply with a frequency of 47-63 Hz and includes a built-in power supply. The 1762-L40AWA features a single 8-pin mini-DIN serial port supporting DF1, DH-485, ASCII, and MODBUS protocols. Two trim potentiometers on the front panel allow for local adjustments of process variables. The controller supports expansion up to 7 additional I/O modules for up to 168 I/O points, making it a flexible and cost-effective solution for various industrial applications.
Application Scenarios
The 1762-L40AWA is commonly used in manufacturing, packaging, material handling, and process control systems. It can interface with HMI and SCADA systems via its communication ports. Its robust relay outputs can switch loads up to 1440 VA, making it suitable for controlling motors, valves, and other industrial actuators. Typical applications include conveyor control, packaging machines, water treatment, and building automation.

Installation & Maintenance Guide
Mount the controller on a standard DIN rail within an enclosure rated for the environment. Ensure adequate ventilation and ambient temperature remains between 0 and 55°C. Connect the AC power supply to the designated L1, L2, and ground terminals. Wire input devices according to the specified on-state voltage ranges. Use proper wire gauges for relay outputs to avoid exceeding 8A per group common. Download user programs via the serial port using RSLogix 500 or compatible software. Periodically inspect connections, clean debris, and verify that the controller is free from moisture and vibration.
